Welcome Velkes

Well we are excited to have David Velke and family here to help us in Peru. They will be here for the next 8 months on an internship program with us. David and his wife Stephanie have an infant son, Sean, and are expecting another that will come sometime around the middle of September. The baby will be a real Peruvian.

Pray that God will use their lives in amazing ways and that they will be able to do well in their language learning and in the time that they will be interning here in the country. I am praying that God will allow us to see them grow in amazing ways and maybe God will give them direction in the exact field where he wants them to go. They believe God wants them to go to Africa but they don’t know what country exactly.

I would like to thank my dad and pastor, Austin Gardner, and Vision Baptist Church for being willing to give them up for a while and helping them get here with us. They come from this amazing church and I count it a privilege to work with them. It is a pleasure to be a part of the same church as this great young family and especially to have them here working alongside us.

We are so thankful for how God is using the ministry here and allowing us the privilege of training others to be a part in reaching the world with the gospel.

New year starts in the Bible Seminary

We are starting a new school year at the Bible college here in Arequipa. We have 35 registered so far and 8 new students. These students are one of the most important parts of our ministry. They are studying to be pastors and missionaries all over Peru and around the world. Pray for me as I am teaching a new course on church planting, 3 hours a week, and also preaching in the chapel every week. Also, please pray for the Bible college ministry and its financial needs.

Ordination of Renzo on his way to North Africa

Well I thank God for the privilege of being a part of the ordination service of Renzo. He is preparing to head to North Africa where he will preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I thank God for the privilege of working with men that have a heart for reaching the world with the Gospel.

I had the privilege of preaching one of the messages that evening and being a part of the presbytery. If you like photos, sign up on Facebook to be a friend of mine and you can get photos of just about everything going on here in Peru. We are excited to see what God is going to do. We are thankful that we had the privilege of teaching him in Bible College and are excited to see what God is going to do in your life.

Chris

Thank you letter from Wilber Hallasi

As most of you know Wilber and Suhjey’s 6 month old daughter passed away. I want to thank God for all you guys in the states that helped with these expenses. He wrote the following letter to thank everyone. Thanks for all you do.

Hello Brothers,

It is a blessing for my family to know that we have brothers in other countries that are praying for us.

I want to thank you for the offerings that you sent us to help with the medical costs for my daughter. The money was put to good use. As you know, she could not hold on any longer and went to be with the Lord on January 12th.

You don’t know the immense appreciation that we have for you. We are moved by the love that you have for us in helping us in our time of need. We would like to go and meet you personally some day to thank you all for what you have done, not only for my daughter but also for my wife. It has been two months since her death, and it still saddens us greatly to not have her in our arms with us. I ask you to pray especially for my wife as she is depressed because of all of this.
But the Lord is helping us every day to keep going forward, and praise God we are fortified in Him!
Thank you for everything,

The Hallasi Cusi Family

Great service at Omega last night

We had probably the best service ever at Omega last night. We took the service and spoke about the need to be praying for our friends in Morocco. Morocco has kicked out many missionaries in the last few days and so we shared the need to pray for our brethren in that country. We spent some time talking about what it meant to carry your cross and follow him to be true disciples. Our people cried and sang and begged God to allow his people in Morocco to have the strength to stand and preach and be used of God in these days. We sang a combination of How Great is our God and the Wonderful Cross. People were singing and crying.

Different people in the church have committed to fast and pray for the Moroccan church for a total of 10 days. Pray that God will continue to use Omega as a great missionary church and that we might always have a missionary heart in all that we do.

Thanks for keeping up to date with us. For more articles on missions check out www.bcwe.org

Great day at Omega

We had a great time this is my first service where I was able to be back and preaching at Omega. We had amazing services. We had 82 in the morning and 77 at night. We are excited about all that God is doing.

The Waye family has arrived here on the field and are trying to catch up on sleep after not sleeping for 24 hours. Keep us and them in your prayers that God would use their time in Peru in amazing ways.

This morning I preached out of I John 3 and then in the evening we preached about the Holy Spirit and the need for his power and guidance in our lives, in our churches and in our pulpits. We had a great time and I am already looking forward to Thursday. Tuesday I have tons of meetings starting at 8 am and so far I have meetings through 8 pm. Hopefully Wednesday will be a little slower. Keep us in your prayers that God would use us here in Peru for his honor and glory.

A new family arriving tomorrow Welcome Chris Waye

Well we are looking forward to having Chris Waye and family arrive in Peru tomorrow. They will be here for 6 months on an internship program with us. Pray that God will use their lives in amazing ways and that they will be able to do well in their language learning and in the time that they will be interning here in the country. I am praying that God will allow us to see them grow in amazing ways and maybe God will give them direction in the exact field where he wants them to go.

I want to thank Pastor Derik Lawrence and Victory Baptist Church for allowing us to have them here with us. They come from this amazing church and I count it a privilege to work with them.

We are so thankful for how God is using the ministry here and allowing us the privilege of training others to be a part in reaching the world with the gospel.

What a great time

Well I went to the states for 20 days. God gave us the privilege of trying to raise support. I am so grateful to say that we have raised right at $300 a month. God is so good to us here we have seen him do amazing things even in the middle of a recession. Please continue to pray that God would use our lives and ministries to bring honor and glory to him alone.

I returned on the 1st of March and had the privilege of travelling with April Baker (long time friend and partner in the ministry) and with her uncle Greg Metcalfe. Greg is in the movie industry and came down to try and get enough footage together to do a video of the ministry here in Peru. After a week he has decided to return again in June to get more footage. He was a great blessing to have down here and for a man of his level of talent to donate time to try and help us out was mind boggling. Keep him in your prayers that he might have clarity on putting the video together.

I want to personally thank both April and Steven Baker (thanks Steven for letting her come) and Greg Metcalfe for coming down here. We had a blast and are looking forward to the result from the time we put into recording.

Pray for the Holt family in Chile

Please be praying for the Holt family. Chile just experienced an 8.8 earthquake. I just read on facebook that everyone is ok at the Holt household but they have to wait till they can see how much damage was done. Pray for the country of Chile during this time. The phone lines are down and there is no electricity. Keep everyone in your prayers during this time. We will let you know as soon as we know anything else.
