Not bad for a summer slump.

Today in church we had 395 people. It is great to see the church doing this well. Since it is summer time, we have been working extra hard at trying to keep the people in church. They have been doing a great job now and the fruit of it was seen today. Pastor Alonso Montenegro had a birthday party tonight we had a great time. I thank God for the privilege of working along side him at the church. He is truly being used greatly of God. Tomorrow we will be having our watchnight services, we are looking forward to this time. May God continue to bless you in all that you do.

Andria has no wisdom . . . . .. . . . . . . .. . . . teeth

Well, Andria went to the doctor and had 3 wisdom teeth removed and another tooth capped, needless to say, she has seen better days but is glad to have it over with. We are having a watch night service on Monday, pray that all goes well with that.

Part 2 “17 year old wanting to leave prostitution”

Well, we have been trying to do all that we can to help the young lady that is wanting to leave prostitution. We had her stay at the Bible College while trying to work through things. We went with her to talk with her parents today. We will see how that goes over time. Today, we had planned on going to the police station to file a report. She is very very scared to do this. The guy that coerced her into this lifestyle has told her that she and her family will die if she does something like this. Please pray for her as we try and help her in any way that we can. She genuinely wants out but is scared for her life. The circle of people that she worked for had some of the biggest named people in the city as clients. I know it sounds a lot like a movie but it is something that we are dealing with right now. She needs your prayers as well as I do to know how I can still continue helping her through this trying time in her life. Keep up to date with the blog so that you can know what is going on in her life. We will do everything that we can to make sure that this works out for her, please pray for wisdom.

Christmas as a missionary

Well, we are now done with all of the celebrations for Christmas. We had a great time, we gave the children a few gifts and ate some turkey from yesterday. In Peru, Christmas is celebrated on the 24th and the most important time is at midnight. We decided to invite a family from the church over to celebrate Christmas with us for lunch on the 24th. We had a great time and had the typical American Christmas dinner. At about 11:55 pm, firecrackers started going off all over the city. The kids slept through it but needless to say us adults weren’t quite that lucky. All the noise was over at about 12:45. I know what a war sounds like now no doubt. The funny thing is that fireworks are against the law down here but millions were used yesterday. This morning we woke up and gave the kids their gifts, they enjoyed that. After that Joy and Julio came over with their kids and we had gifts for their kids as well.

Make sure and pray for your missionaries that are away from their families this Christmas. This was the first time in a very very long time that I wasn’t there with my family and with the in laws as well. It was definitely very very different. Thanks for staying up to date with everything going on down here.

Help me I am 17 and want to leave prostitution

These were the words out of the mouth of a young lady Saturday night at 1 am a young lady showed up at the Bible College, she at one time used to go to church and then she was pushed into prostitution. She has been involved in this lifestyle for over a month now. She is only 17 years old and is having some major problems and needing some help. Please pray for us that the Lord would give us some wisdom as to how to help her out. On Saturday night she accepted Christ as her Savior and hopefully will follow some steps to help her get out of this lifestyle, I would like to ask you to pray for her as she is fearing for her life and the life of her family members. She has been told that they will kill her if she tries to leave. Please take some time to pray for her tonight. May God bless you in all you do.

First presentation of Cantata last night

Wow, what an incredible job they did with the Cantata last night. My wife has worked very very hard to get this thing going. She and the song leader have spent so much time practicing and preparing for it, but it was well worth all of the effort. It was a great Cantata, we had 3 people accept Christ last night through the Cantata and tonight we ought to have more. This cantata was done from the ground up with our people and they did a great job. We had close to 200 people there last night, these were mainly people from our church but tonight we will have a lot of visitors from other places. Be praying that we might see others saved tonight.

Tonight is the night

Well, tonight is the night of the cantata. My wife has worked countless hours for this night to turn out well. She is working so hard and we expect everything to turn out well. While doing this she also decided that it would be a good idea to bake 4 different kind of cookies for over 100 different families in the church, friends and people in the Bible College. She hasn’t read anything that I wrote yet about her birthday or anything else, that is how busy she is. We will be leaving in a few minutes to give out the cookies. I do not know of a better woman in the world than my wife. The lady in Proverbs 31 could take a few lessons from her. Pray that everything turns out great at the Cantata and that people might realize the greatness of the God that they serve and if they do not know him that today might be the day for them. Thanks for staying up to date with what is going on.

One year older

Well, on the 13th of December, my wife turned another year old. I didn’t forget until now but things have been so so busy I haven’t had time to get to the computer to write a post.

I thank God for the wife that he has given me. I was and am blessed to be able to call her my wife, she has been an example of what a missionary’s wife should be. Andria I thank you for being an incredible wife, I couldn’t do 1/10th of the ministry done here without you. Your countless hours with the music at the church, your willingness to help others and your thoughtful acts of kindness set you apart. I thank you for all you do. I cannot imagine life without you and your dedication to our family. Thanks for being an example to all.

Summer slump in December

Well, we had the first day of our summer slump. Classes are now out and everyone is thinking about going on vacation. I know you guys don’t understand that going on right now but it is. December is our summer month. You can go to town, buy your Christmas tree right along side your bathing suit. We only had about 325 today which means that we had about a 20% slump. As you get bigger the slumps seem to be as well. We will be fine and the church will start growing again no doubt but figured I would at least let you know what is going on so that you can pray for it.

Everyone is gone now

Well, everyone has now left. Jason Holt was here with a couple of guys from Chile, we had a great time with them and he did an incredible job preaching the graduation. He is now back in Chile. David and Katie Gardner have now returned back to the states as well, we had a great time with them while they were here. Benjamin Armstrong is also back in the states now, he spent 6 months down here with us and was a great blessing and I look forward to working with him for many more years.

My wife is still here with me and we are getting ready for the Christmas Cantata.
